This allows you to customise and create the bedroom of your dreams. We offer a wide selection of options, fabrics, timber stains and the option to colour match.
Blackbutt ranges show strong contrast in colour tones (light and dark), and heavy wood grain features including knots, fiddle back, gum vein, worm holes and course texture. This is considered a feature of this range and materials are selected to achieve this look. We cannot supply products from this range that are of light feature and matching grain. If choosing a light stain colour this will show more variation and contrast.
About Messmate Timber:
Messmate is a hardwood native to Tasmania and Victoria and the tablelands of New South Wales and southern Queensland. It has been known to grow to 90 metres tall, with a trunk up to three metres in diameter.
A well-known Australian hardwood that is in high demand for a wide variety of applications. It varies in colour from pale browns through to light yellows with subtle hints of peach. The sapwood is pale yellow to pale brown, with light brown heartwood. A species rich and warm in detail, it has an even, moderately coarse texture. The sometimes interlocking, straight grains feature beautifully defined rings. Gum veins are quite common.
Blackbutt is a tall eucalyptus growing up to 75 metres high. It grows in the coastal forests of NSW from Bega on the south coast up to Maryborough in Queensland.
After a bushfire, the lower trunk of the tree is dramatically darkened – hence the name Blackbutt.
Blackbutt is regarded as a hard, strong, tough and high quality timber with uses in furniture, flooring, joinery, decking and sleepers. It is a fast growing tree that is suited to regeneration and is a common plantation timber.
